Creating programs, celebrations, and forums
to foster and develop cultural competencies
is part of Daria’s responsibilities as the
Assistant Director for Leadership Initiatives.
Daria also supervises the identity-based student
affinity groups and multicultural organizations.
Student leaders are trained,as the realize the
integral role leadership roles play in their development.
Caryl responsibilities include,
but are not limited to: assisting in planning
and implementing programs to celebrate
cultural diversity and with New Student
Orientation; supporting affinity group
student organization leaders by hosting
and organizing monthly meetings to foster
community; and collaborating with Career
Services, Admissions, and Residence
Education to provide multicultural
programming and promote Office of
Multicultural Affairs (OMA) events.
Jessica Gonzalez
As the Assistant Director for Student
Services, Jessica addresses the
personal needs of individual students
of color.By providing personal advising,
conflict resolution, mediation and
problem solving support,students have
access to assistance that allows them to
successfully navigate their environment.
In conjunction with the College of Arts and
Sciences and the School of Business, the
Academic Success Specialists address
learning style, culture issues, and develop
programs to provide faculty with valuable
information to assist students to become
better learners. By collaborating with
Student Learning Support, Residence
Education and the Office of First Year
Student Engagement, the Academic
Success Specialists track academic
progress, address retention and provide
seamless support to students of color.
In conjunction with the College of Arts and
Sciences and the School of Business, the
